Wild West Show

"Richard and Donna Best have brought back to life the traditional Wild West whip cracking act, with showmanship and accuracy they take you back 100 years. From Wild West show to vaudeville. They have amazed audiences from across the country."

- Mark Allen, National Director Wild West Arts Club

Buffalo Bill's Wild West was probably one of the most unique American shows ever put together. His show was a grand extravaganza, made up of many different events. The Black Lightning Wild West Show will bring to your stage two important parts of any good Wild West Show.

For cowboy fun, there is trick and fancy roping. Donna Daring (Donna Best), and Tumbleweed (Richard Best) will be performing traditional and not so traditional rope tricks during this part of the show. Also whenever possible audience members are brought up on stage to try their hand at spinning beginner's ropes.

One of the main events in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show was Annie Oakley's sharp shooting. Her act was a series of target shooting events, each one harder as they went along. Tumbleweed and Calamity Jess (Jessica Bennett) with Donna Darling holding targets will be using bullwhips instead of firearms to recreate this style of event. Their whip routines will start with the interesting and finish with the amazing.

This show can be done with a cast of two or four performers. It always has a fun and interesting dialog, with background music. The running time can be from five to 35 minutes.

Richard Best has performed in several different productions and has given over 3500 performances since 1979. He is an award winning western performer. His bullwhip coach was one of Hollywood's best, Alex Green, a stuntman and whip coach in such movies as Mask of Zorro, Catwoman and many more.

Donna Best has performed in several different productions and has given over 1500 performances since 1988. She delights and amazes the audience with her steady hands and big smile.

Jessica Bennett 16, is an award winning whip artist, who started her career at the age of 9. She won Best New Whip Cracker Award at the national WWAC (Wild West Arts Club) convention in Las Vegas, Nevada at the ages of ten and twelve.

Samantha Bennett 11, is the youngest member of the cast. She started holding targets at the tender age of six. This is her first year to use the bullwhips, and she is displaying a lot of enthusiasm and skill as she wishes to follow in her big sister's footsteps onto the stage.

In 2001 they were the opening act for the WWAC national convention banquet. This was at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2003 they were part of a show put on by the WWAC at Wild West City, Netcong, New Jersey. In March 2004 they were part of the showcase for the public and promoters for WWAC convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. Besides these events they have for the last three years been putting on shows for schools and other events in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Indianan and Michigan.

Mark Allen said of the show:
"Richard and Donna Best have brought back to life the traditional Wild West whip-cracking act. With showmanship and accuracy they take you back 100 years, from a Wild West show to Vaudeville.
They have amazed audiences across the country."

National Director Wild West Arts Club
